Michaela TerAvest is an Assistant Professor at Michigan State University, where her group focuses on understanding electron transfer processes within individual bacteria, and between bacteria and solid surfaces. Her group applies this understanding to biofuel production and biological energy storage processes.
She earned a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Michigan State University in 2008 and a Ph.D. in Biological and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University in 2014. She then worked as a post-doctoral researcher at University of California Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab until 2015.
