Prof. Timothy Julian

Biography

Dr. Julian is the Leader of Pathogens and Human Health research group in Department of Environmental Microbiology in Eawag, Switzerland. He has previously worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Environmental Health Sciences at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (Baltimore, MD, USA) working with Prof. Kellogg Schwab. His doctoral dissertation research, on fomite-mediated disease transmission, was conducted under the advising of Prof. Ali Boehm in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University (Stanford, CA, USA). His research included work on environmental transmission of enteric disease in low and middle income countries and viral evolution in response to stressors. His group's mission is to increase the understanding pathogen transmission at the boundary between humans and the environment to eliminate infectious disease.  He is currently serving as the Editor for research topic titled "Microbial Safety in Water Resources" in Frontiers. ​
