Dr. Zhen (Jason) He is an Associate Professor of Environmental Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech, USA. He has extensive research experience in sustainable water and wastewater treatment. The ongoing projects in his lab focus on bioelectrochemical treatment of wastewater, resource recovery from wastes, membrane-based treatment, forward osmosis, desalination, and bioenergy. He has published more than 130 journal papers, which have received over 6,000 citations with h-index of 39 (Google Scholar). He is holding three issued US patents in the areas of microbial fuel cells, photobioelectrochemical systems, and osmotic bioelectrochemcial systems. He has managed multiple research projects and collaborated with researchers from Qatar, Chile, and China. ​
