On Wednesday February 7th, Oliver successfully defended his thesis entitled "Monitoring arid-land groundwater abstraction through optimization of a land surface model with remote sensing-based evaporation" under the supervision of Prof. Matthew McCabe.
His research interest is in the applications of satellite data and numerical modeling for agricultural water management. Before joiningProf. Matthew McCabe's Hydrology and Land Observation group, Oliver was part of the Subsurface Intake group, at WDRC , under Prof. Thomas Missimer, studying the potential of dune sands for water storage. Oliver received his M.Sc. in Environmental Science and Engineering in 2013 at KAUST and B.Sc. in Engineering Physics from Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico.
