WDRC hosted a visit organized by Ph.D. student Khaled Bin Bandar for the Chairman of the board Eng. Suliman Al-Sayyari and CEO Eng. Ahmad AlAssiry of Shuaibah Water & Electricity Company (SWEC) the largest private water desalination company in the Kingdom.

They received an overview of the center from interim director Professor Johannes Vrouwenvelder, and research highlights from Professors TorOve Leiknes and Noreddine Ghaffour, and from Dr. Muhammad Wakil Shahzad on behalf of Professor Kim Choon NG.

SWEC representatives also visited the WDRC laboratories and piloting facilities, as well as​ the university's core laboratories and the museum of technology in Islam.

The aim of the visit was to learn more about WDRC's work on water desalination and water reuse and to ​discuss future research collaboration between Saudi water industries and WDRC.
