Polymeron develops and produces environmentally friendly polymeric materials by up-cycling the organic waste of the dates industry. With its formulation, it aims to produce single-use plastic products. Its first proprietary plastic formulation is biodegradable, and unlike oxo-plastics, it does not generate microplastics.
"I feel delighted and proud about this award because it reflects our hard work in the project and our care for the environment," Jimenez said. Rodrigo Jimenez Sandoval (KAUST-WDRC Ph.D. student), Noor Zaouri (KAUST-WDRC alumna), and Martin Ibarra (KAUST Ph.D. student) are the three co-founders of Polymeron.
