KAUST promotes Dr. Peiying Hong to full professor

Dr. Peiying Hong has recently reached a significant milestone in her academic career with her promotion to the rank of full professor. Throughout her professional journey, Professor Hong has made substantial contributions to the field of environmental science. This promotion acknowledges her exceptional expertise in wastewater treatment, her commitment to advancing knowledge, and her innovative approach to addressing water safety concerns and detecting potential environmental microbial contaminants.

In 2009, Dr. Hong attained her Ph.D. in environmental science and engineering from the National University of Singapore. Following this, she undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Animal Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2012, she joined KAUST as an assistant professor and was later promoted to the position of associate professor in 2018. Notably, Dr. Hong was honored with the 2019 James J. Morgan Environmental Science & Technology Early Career Award for her research on wastewater. In 2023, Dr. Hong was also named one of the four finalists for the Letten Prize. The purpose of the Letten Prize is to recognize younger researchers’ contributions in the fields of health, development, environment, and equality in all aspects of human life. The Letten Prize also aims to raise public awareness of how research can be used to solve global human development challenges.

Dr. Hong's unwavering dedication, notable research achievements, and commitment to teaching have undoubtedly earned her this well-deserved recognition. As a full professor, we eagerly anticipate even more exciting and groundbreaking research from Dr. Hong and her esteemed team!
