We are delighted to announce the successful Ph.D. dissertation defense of Sarah Almahfoodh, who did her Ph.D. studies under the supervision of Professor Noreddine Ghaffour.

Almafoodh's thesis focused on novel methods to mitigate TP on the feed side of MD by considering process, membrane, and module modifications.

Almahfoodh joined the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) as a Ph.D. candidate in Chemical Engineering.  She began her professional career at the Saudi Aramco Research and Development Center, where she contributed to developing membranes and membrane processes for gas separation. In 2019, Sarah completed her Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Delft University of Technology. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.

During her time at KAUST, Almahfoodh participated in the Brains for Brine challenge at Aquatech, where she secured first place, and the KAUST Falling Walls Labs competition in 2022, finishing in third place. She has actively participated in events organized by the Water Desalination and Reuse Center (WDRC), including Water Day, KAUST Open Research Week, and the UN game changer challenge.
